Nalbinding with Stella Spence

A brand new workshop for 2026!  Nalbinding (nålbinding) is an  ancient, durable textile technique predating knitting and crochet, using a single needle and short yarn lengths to create interlocking, non-unraveling fabric. Popularized in Scandinavia (Viking era) and historically worldwide, it creates dense, warm, and easily repairable items like socks, mittens, and hats by hand-looping, often using the Oslo stitch.
This technique dates back to the Bronze of early Iron Age, making it one of the oldest methods of fabric construction.
