Below is our current programme of half and full day creative workshops. All of our workshops include all materials unless otherwise stated. Our half day workshops also include hot drinks and home baked treats while full day workshops include a delicious lunch. Some of the resident artists also run workshops in their studios, please contact them directly for further details.

Make an Asymmetric Basket

Join Anna Turnbull, highly experienced willow worker, to make a beautiful and practical asymmetric basket.

Botanical Mono Printing

Join Cheryl Jackson, one of our lovely studio artists, to explore botanicals through the medium of print.

Weave a Circular Rug

In this one day workshop you will be introduced to the fascinating and ancient craft of weaving, creating a circular rug or cushion cover by the end of the day. This is a deeply satisfying way of using up scrap lengths of unwanted fabric to create a bespoke item.

No experience is needed and the workshop is suitable for all age groups. All equipment and materials will be provided, along with lunch and refreshments.

Make your own Fascinator

Come and make your own beautiful fascinator with renowned milliner Margaret Woodliff Wright.

If you intend to wear your fascinator to a special event please feel free to bring your own colour-coordinated trimmings to match your outfit.

As most people feel more comfortable with their own sewing kit from home, please bring this along with a few plastic clothes pegs too, if you have them!

The workshop is suitable for all age groups.

Adventures in Drawing

Come and join renowned artist Fiona Carvell as she helps you explore the medium of pencil and charcoal. Looking at both composition and technique, Fiona will teach you how to get the most out of these ancient artists’ materials.

Father’s Day Cupcake Decorating

Join our resident bespoke cake decorator, Sarah, to learn how to create your own edible masterpieces. You will be provided with 6 cakes to decorate and then take away to surprise your dad!

Jewellery- Beadweaving Technique to create earrings and pendant

Join Karen Jones, jeweller to create your own bespoke jewellery using the bead weaving technique.

Paint an Animal in a Day

Joan Murray, respected animal artist will guide you through the process of painting your own animal portrait in the course of this workshop.

Summer Pastels

Experienced pastel artist, Fiona Carvell will guide you through the use of pastels to create your own pastel paintings. Suitable for all levels of experience, you will work to produce landscape compositions with a seasonal theme from reference material provided. Please provide your own pastel set, although as ambassador for Unison Pastels, Fiona will have sets available for purchase on the day.

Silk Paper Making with Inclusions

Come along for a day in our beautiful Long Room to create your own silk paper. This will have the added interest of including a variety of natural objects such as flowers or leaves. The course is taught by well respected paper maker Wendyann Stanger

A Day of Felting- wet and needle techniques

Talented local textile artist Charlotte Lobb will take you through the fascinating processes of felting to create your own wet and needle felted projects.

Well respected print maker Diana Fitzpatrick will take you through the technique of lino printing to create your own unique prints.

Christmas Rag Rugging for Beginners

Learn the traditional rag rugging techniques of “Proggy” and “Hooky”with textile artists Jane Jackson & Margaret Kenny and use them to create a rag rugged Christmas project, such as a Christmas tree, wreath, wall hanging or cushion.

A Day of Angels; Needle Felting

Felton artist Charlotte Lobb begins this Day of Angels with a morning of needle felting. Learn how to needle felt while creating your own beautiful angel using this traditional method.
